Review of Toshiba IK-WB15A Pan/Tilt/Zoom Security Camera
Depending on price range, security cameras can be
relatively the same. They all have fairly good video (though it can differ
between brands and models), most are equipped with some form of night
vision, and while there are different types of features, different attribute
quality, and different setups, most perform the security camera function
fairly adequately and are otherwise comparable based entirely on the
difference in quality between models.
However, once you bump up the price range to the
more expensive/advanced models, the differences between the cameras become
more pronounced. An example is with the Toshiba IK-WB15A IP Security
Pan/Tilt/Zoom Camera. This camera has a variety of additional usability
features that makes it excellent for security, and a great CCTV camera for
those in high security locations.

Pros
The Toshiba IK-WB15A IP Security Camera is designed
to motion surveillance as though one has an online eye. With motion
detection abilities and low light settings, you can move the camera via the
web to point towards the direction you wish to see and take advantage of a
2.6x zoom in order to capture images from anywhere in the 112 degree radius.
The Toshiba IK-WB15A IP Security Camera was
designed to stream high quality, blur free video through the web to monitor
your security from anywhere with an Internet connection. There is more
visibility with this camera than others, which allows you or your security
personnel to easily pan, tilt, and zoom towards any object you wish to
monitor.
Cons
The Toshiba IK-WB15A IP Security Camera’s low light
settings are fairly weak, and not designed for extremely low/no light like
infrared security cameras or some of the more top of the line nightvision
models. The Toshiba IK-WB15A IP Security Camera is also not the greatest
outdoor camera, with a lens that has sunlight issues and trouble capturing
motion depending on the darkness level. In addition, the tilting and zooming
options do not work very quickly, so it can be tough to follow a fast moving
object.
Overall Impressions
Panning, Tilting, and Zooming features can be
invaluable for security. Things rarely happen directly in front of a static
camera lens, but when you can move the camera you are able to search a room
as though you were really there. The Toshiba IK-WB15A IP Security Camera,
then, can be a great tool for monitoring any area through the web. But
overall, the camera has some quirks that make it less useful, such as its
low light issues and non-optimal outdoor casing. Since these cameras can be
as high as $600-$1000 dollars, it does represent a hefty cost. If
Pan/Tilt/Zoom features are your most important concern, this camera will do
the trick – especially if most monitoring is indoors and during the day. If
you are trying to set up an entire CCTV system and need to monitor the
outdoors in complete darkness, you may need to look elsewhere.
